2008 International Bridge Conference

Mark Henderson is presenting "A Bridge Inspector's Approach to FRP Composites" at 10:00 a.m. as part of a larger workshop, "Proven Performance of FRP Composites in Bridge Construction," sponsored by the American Composites Manufacturers Association. His presentation will cover illustrations from recent inspection case histories on how bridge owners and engineers can become more confident in specifying FRP composites for bridge applications with inspection techniques that are appropriate for FRP materials and products, as well as consistent with AASHTO's evaluation process.

Mark P. Henderson

Mark P. Henderson, P.E.
Mark Henderson has more than 25 years of experience in bridge design and inspection. He is an international authority on composite materials, and has extensive experience with innovative materials and systems. His areas of expertise include bridge inspection, replacement, rehabilitation and restoration. Henderson is in charge of the LJB Quality Management Program, and is responsible for total project supervision, man-hour estimates and sub-consultant coordination. He is a pioneer in the use of innovative bridge design and was the designer of Ohio's first all-composite vehicular bridge, built in 1997. Henderson serves on several boards and committees for bridge design, and has worked with all structure types required for ODOT prequalification. He has a master's degree in structural engineering and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
