LJB Provides Three Health and Safety Presentations at Michigan Safety Conference

DAYTON, OH – April 6, 2009 – When the state of Michigan wanted to improve safety and productivity for its maintenance workers, it turned to LJB Inc. to survey more than 40 state of Michigan-owned buildings. Craig Galecka, P.E., C.S.P., project manager for LJB Inc., will present on the findings and resulting safety solutions at the 2009 Michigan Safety Conference.

Galecka and Jud Sorenson, P.E., project manager for the state of Michigan Department of Management and Budget, will jointly present “Identifying and Abating Fall Hazards in a State Government Setting,” on April 7, at 3 p.m. The presentation falls in the public employer division of the Michigan Safety Conference, which will be held in Grand Rapids April 7 and 8.

LJB Inc. has more staff with the dual certification of certified safety professional and professional engineer than any other firm in the country. This level of expertise allowed the firm to handle the large scope of this project. LJB has also designed fall hazard solutions for 20 facilities and provided construction oversight for 18 facilities for the state of Michigan. LJB Inc. continues to work with the state in evaluating, designing and observing improvements to the state’s facilities.

LJB representatives will also present two other presentations during the 2009 Michigan Safety Conference. Galecka will also present “Environmental, Safety and Health Concerns during Decommissioning,” which focuses on methods to properly manage a decommissioning project. Heather Lacey, an environmental scientist with LJB, will present “Wetlands: Do I have them and what should I do?” This presentation aims to demystify wetland-related regulations and requirements, which can derail development plans.
