LJB is providing complete architectural design, as well as civil and structural engineering for the completion of a new academic building for McGregor University. This building represents the first facility in the country constructed strictly for McGregor, which previously had been integrated with Antioch University.
LJB produced a variety of schematic renderings to help the community visualize the new building—significantly advancing the university’s fundraising efforts.
The new building’s design is reminiscent of Chautauqua, a retreat in upstate New York, but also harmonizes with the scale and materials of nearby downtown Yellow Springs. While the exterior of the building appears traditional, the interior spaces provide for the latest in technology and learning trends.
The new 90,000-square-foot building houses a lecture hall, classrooms, small conference rooms, offices, work rooms and a reading room/library. The design focuses on flexibility and comfort, as multiple spaces will be used for both school and community purposes.
