  • State Route 4 & South Gilmore

LJB worked with the City of Fairfield to improve both the flow of traffic and safety hazards at the intersection of State Route 4 and Gilmore and Holden, one of the busiest and most accident-prone locations in the city. The project realigned and widened the Gilmore and Holden approaches, restriped State Route 4 to include a second left-turn lane, and changed the horizontal alignment to the Holden and Gilmore approaches. The project also converted the existing span wire signal to a city standard mast arm, designed to account for additional turn lanes and connected to the city's central signal system.

While designing the project, LJB applied sustainable transportation practices that led to the project becoming Ohio’s first project certified by the Greenroads® Rating System. Greenroads recognizes projects that have been designed to a level of sustainability that is higher than what is considered common practice.
