LJB Welcomes Director of Mining Services

LJB is pleased to welcome Sean Harvey, PG, CEG, as Director of Mining Services for the firm’s Underground Services team. With more than 25 years of experience in geotechnical and geologic engineering, underground design and construction, trenchless and tunnel design, and mining, Sean brings extensive technical expertise and leadership to LJB’s growing Underground practice.

Throughout his career, Sean has managed complex underground projects across the United States involving soft ground, hard rock, and mixed-face conditions. His experience spans subsurface investigations, design evaluations, geotechnical baseline reports, geologic and tunnel mapping, ground support systems, rock mechanics, instrumentation and interpretation, and underground construction methods. He has also led multidisciplinary teams through the planning, design, and construction of challenging underground infrastructure projects.

As Director of Mining Services, Sean will lead the continued development and growth of LJB’s capabilities within the mining market, applying his expertise and experience to help clients solve complex underground engineering and construction challenges. His addition further strengthens LJB’s ability to provide integrated geotechnical, structural, and underground solutions for clients with highly specialized infrastructure needs.

Sean earned a Master of Science in Mining and Earth Systems Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Fort Lewis College. He is a licensed Professional Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist and is actively involved in several industry organizations, including the Association of Environmental & Engineering Geologists, Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration, Underground Construction Association, and North American Society for Trenchless Technology.
