Smithsonian Fall Protection Services

Having previously provided numerous projects for the Smithsonian Institution as a subconsultant, LJB was contracted to provide an array of fall protection services for Smithsonian Institution.

Multiple tasks resulted from this contract, including the design of a new active fall protection system for the roof of the Multi Mirror Telescope building. As part of this project, LJB also developed conceptual designs to address a variety of fall hazards identified inside the building.

Another task included the inspection and assessment of fall protection systems on several Smithsonian facilities in Washington, DC. LJB evaluated roof fall protection systems on multiple landmark buildings such as the Arts & Industries Building, American Indian Museum and the Donald Reynolds Center. Once deficiencies were addressed by SI, LJB provided certification records in accordance with the ANSI Z359 standard.
