LJB is leading the Uptown Implementation Plan, which is a detailed and comprehensive set of recommendations to maintain Uptown Centerville as a vibrant district and economic development engine for the city. The plan builds on the vision established in the 2019 Uptown Action Plan and includes private development opportunities, public gathering spaces, streetscapes, parking, and traffic calming. LJB invited long-time partners Garmann Miller and MKSK to the team to provide electrical analysis and design for lighting and comprehensive planning and design services, respectively. The Implementation Plan is Part 1 of a larger process to develop a Streetscape Improvements and Strategic Investment Strategy for Uptown. As part of the plan, we will systematically implement a Strategic Parking Plan that includes elimination of curb cuts, as well as sidewalk and median updates along primary streets in the district. To guide the design of the public realm, the plan identifies eight streetscape design goals: relocating or burying utility lines, installation of ADA compliant brick sidewalks, utilization of limestone walls, establishment of a high tree canopy along the street and sidewalk, installation of pedestrian furnishings, a mix of street and pedestrian lighting, consistent wayfinding and district signage, and strengthening the Uptown brand story throughout the district.
