LJB provided Norfolk Southern Railway with a site survey, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, as well as floodplain and environmental permitting for the lining of the existing box culvert. Culvert CD-279.76 is located in a Zone AE floodplain with a regulatory floodway. LJB used information from FEMA and a shapefile of the effective cross sections to create a digital 1D corrected effective model in the latest version of HEC-RAS. The proposed replacement structure was designed to meet a no-rise certification, as well as the state requirement of not reducing water surface elevations by more than 0.1 feet, in support of obtaining a floodplain permit from Ottawa County.
