The Spot/Spirits Unlimited

The owner of this project needed a durable facility that could withstand hurricane winds without sacrificing structural integrity. Tilt-up stood up to the challenge when Superstorm Sandy ravaged the New Jersey coast, but left this structure unscathed. This new 11,800-square-foot building includes The Spot and Spirits Unlimited—a new restaurant and liquor store with an outdoor dining area. Tilt-up construction was the ideal choice for this owner because the project site is in the flood plain and close to the ocean. This project is a testament that even small retail projects can be cost competitive with tilt-up construction.

The owner saved $300,000 by using tilt-up, and the project was finished in just over seven months. The tilt-up concrete wall panels are insulated to improve energy efficiency. The exterior features post-applied cultured stone, textured paint, rustication and an EFIS band.
