700 Progress Way

LJB provided structural engineering for this 198,000-square-foot, two-building project that is now fully occupied by AstraZeneca. Located in Maryland’s I-270 BioTech Corridor, this facility offers essential lab and quality control spaces to support manufacturing.

The project included several architectural features that posed challenges during construction. The buildings feature column-free corners, which needed temporary support during construction and strong connections for stability. Additionally, a narrow wing wall with hidden connections and a spandrel panel above the roofline were included to enhance the building’s appearance. The offset entryways and corners had eyebrow features, requiring careful design of the panel parapets to handle the structural demands.
