Central Avenue & Cedar Street Intersection Improvements

  •

The purpose of this project was to improve the safety at the intersection of East Central Avenue/East Dixie Drive/Cedar Street/Slonaker Avenue.

The unusual configuration of this intersection was confusing to motorists and prone to accidents.

LJB’s design implemented improvements recommended in the city’s Downtown Corridor Master Plan, which included a new westbound left turn lane, realignment of the eastbound left turn lane, and adjustments to the traffic signal timing movements. The project also extended the existing bike trail to the east and relocated the sidewalk within the westbound left turn area.

LJB performed roadway design and surveying services, as well as right-of-way plans used to acquire one temporary parcel, construction plans, and a final construction cost estimate for the city to use in the advertising and award of the project.
